Christmas is a time for joyful anticipation and celebration. Does any creature manifest these attitudes better than a dog? The Dog Who Came to Christmas (Revell, 2021) is a collection of true, feel-good holiday stories celebrates the gift of dogs. It’s the perfect companion for those magical Christmas evenings in front of the fireplace with your favorite canine companion. It also makes a heartfelt gift for dog-loving friends.

I recently received a copy of The Dog Who  Came to Christmas, edited by Callie Smith Grant, for my honest review. Even though we’re still weeks away from Christmas, I felt immediately cozy snuggled up with these stories. It’s kind of like the Hallmark Christmas movies….it doesn’t have to be Christmastime to watch them, and you never want them to end. I could read these heartwarming stories any time of the year.

There are plenty of stories about mischievous dogs, dogs who proved their value in the family, and dogs who were the best Christmas gift ever. There is wisdom about healing after pet loss: “The surest remedy for the loss of a cherished pet is another pet. A wounded heart heals best when it loves again.”  And my favorite line, in a  story by Lisa Begin-Kruysman,

“The gift of a dog is that they remind us that there is no time like the present, and no present like time. In a dog’s presence, every day can hold all the hope and happiness of a lifetime of Christmas mornings.”

I love this book. And, good news! You can win your own copy of The Dog Who Came to Christmas, edited by Callie Smith Grant. Just enter the Rafflecopter below. One winner will be chosen at random.  Contest runs through 11/25. The winner will be announced here and contacted by email.
