I think we found a new use for the Thundershirt. According to the website, the Thundershirt is great for:
*fear of thunder
*fear of fireworks
*separation anxiety
*travel anxiety
*crate training
*problem barking
*hyperactivity
*leash pulling

When we recently received a Thundershirt to try out, I wondered when I might give it a try. Kelly isn’t usually bothered by loud noises, but she does have separation anxiety. She’s also can be reactive around other dogs. I planned to use it when we took her to an adoption event. But the event fell through so I didn’t get the chance.

Then one evening we were sitting in the living room and Kelly started barking and acting anxious. She sometimes gets upset when Brooks is nearby, or when we give Brooks attention. This type of behavior had been happening every evening for a while, and our efforts to calm her, separate them, give her extra attention, distract her, etc. weren’t working. So we tried the Thundershirt.

Kelly actually enjoyed the process of having her Thundershirt put on. It’s super easy to do. The construction is sturdy and proportioned perfectly to a dog’s figure. Once I secured the velcro, Kelly actually seemed to calm down right away. She wandered off and lay down. She seriously didn’t bark or act stressed out. She even laid down comfortably beside Brooks and went to sleep! The Thundershirt helped Kelly to feel less anxious…and gave us all a peaceful evening.

I read many other positive accounts of the Thundershirt, but until we tried it ourselves, I didn’t know just how well it works. I plan to have Kelly wear it when we go to events where other dogs will be around to help her feel less stressed. And whenever she seems anxious or upset by Brooks in the evening, we just put her in her Thundershirt and she feels comfortable.

If you have a situation where your dog seems to have some anxiety, maybe the Thundershirt can help. It comes in heather gray, blue or pink. Check out their website, and like Thundershirt on Facebook.

We were sent a Thundershirt to review, but the opinions here are 100% my own.
