* The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that pets given as holiday gifts too often end up being returned to the shelter. Surrendered pets suffer emotionally when they are returned to a shelter cage.

* Amber the pitbull will soon be placed in a new home. nj.com tells us that she was abandoned with a note on her collar: “Amber: I need a family.”
*Reuters reports that having a cat as a kid can help reduce chances of developing allergies. However, the same is not true for adults. Getting a cat when you are an adult nearly doubles your allergy risks.
